The New Ford Vehicle Communication Module 3 (Ford VCM 3) is the latest generation of the Ford IDS & GFDRS Vehicle Communication Interface, supporting all current European production vehicles and future-proofed with CAN-FD and DoIP communication protocols. It provides authentic OEM diagnostics for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. The VCM3 features a new backup capacitor that keeps the VCI powered up during low voltage conditions.

- Customer Flight Recorder (CFR) functionality with optional pendant cable
- Industry standardized J1962 Data Link Connector (DLC) and USB cables
- Four LED indicators and signaling device for continuous visual and audible operating status
- Enhanced 802.11 wireless that minimizes dependencies on service department wireless infrastructure
- SmartPower Management system to protect the VCM III in extreme environments
- Backup capacitor keeps the VCI powered during low voltage conditions
- New wireless software integrated with the IDS installation package
- Wireless functionality preferred for all IDS functions, including module reprogramming
- USB wired connections required only to update the loaded code and to set up the VCM III as a Customer Flight Recorder
